Why conversion in the browser is better
Most online converters work by uploading your file to a server, converting it there, and handing back a download link. That means a copy of your document sits on someone else's machine, often for hours, and you have to trust a privacy policy you did not read.
Modern browsers can do the same work themselves. Every tool on this site uses the browser's own image and document engines, so your file is read from disk, converted in memory, and written straight back to your downloads folder. Nothing is transmitted at any point — you can switch off your internet connection after the page loads and the tools still work.
It is also faster. There is no upload wait, no queue, and no download step, which makes a noticeable difference when converting a batch of large photos.
