Conversion happens on your device using your browser's own image engine. Your files are never uploaded, so there is no size limit beyond your device's memory.

When to convert GIF to JPG

JPG is the right destination when the image is photographic and you want a small file — for email attachments, upload forms with size caps, or anywhere a GIF is unnecessarily large.

It is also the most universally accepted image format there is, so a JPG will open on any device, in any editor, and at any print shop.

    Two things to expect

Animated GIFs convert to a single still frame, since JPG cannot store animation. And because JPG has no transparency, any transparent area is filled with white — convert to PNG instead if you need to keep it.

    Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser using your device's own processor. Your files are never transmitted anywhere, which is why the tool works even if you disconnect from the internet after the page loads.

    Does the animation survive?

No. You get the first frame as a still image. JPG has no concept of animation.

    What happens to transparency?

Transparent areas become white, because JPG has no alpha channel. Use PNG if that matters.

Is there a file limit or a paywall?

There is no account, no watermark, and no upload cap. Because your device does the work, the only practical limit is your available memory. The site is funded by ads, not subscriptions.
