Why convert JPG to PNG?
PNG is a lossless format, which means it stores the image exactly as it is given rather than discarding detail to save space. That makes it the right choice when an image will be edited repeatedly, layered over other content, or displayed at high zoom — logos, screenshots, diagrams and product cutouts all benefit.
PNG also supports transparency. A JPG cannot store an alpha channel at all, so converting to PNG first is a necessary step before you can erase a background in an editor and keep the result transparent.
Worth knowing: converting a JPG to PNG does not restore detail that JPG compression already threw away. It preserves what is left perfectly from that point onward, and the file will usually be larger as a result.
How to convert
Drop one or more JPG files onto the box above, or tap it to browse your device. Choose PNG as the output, optionally cap the longest edge if you want a smaller image, then press Convert. Download files individually or grab everything at once as a ZIP.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser using your device's own processor. Your files are never transmitted anywhere, which is why the tool works even if you disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
Will the PNG look better than the original JPG?
It will look identical. PNG preserves every pixel it receives, but it cannot recover detail that was already lost when the JPG was first compressed.
Why is the PNG file bigger than the JPG?
That is expected. JPG achieves small files by discarding image data; PNG keeps everything. For photographs, a PNG is commonly two to five times larger.
Is there a file limit or a paywall?
There is no account, no watermark, and no upload cap. Because your device does the work, the only practical limit is your available memory. The site is funded by ads, not subscriptions.
