Why convert PNG to JPG?
PNG files of photographs are large because the format stores every pixel losslessly. JPG uses compression tuned for photographic detail and typically produces a file five to ten times smaller with no visible difference at sensible quality settings.

Choosing a quality setting
Three presets control how aggressively the image is compressed. Balanced is the default and is visually indistinguishable from the original for most photos. Smallest file produces a much lighter result with only minor softening in fine detail. Best quality is worth choosing when the image will be edited again afterwards, though on screen the difference is rarely visible.
One thing to plan for: JPG has no transparency. Any transparent area in your PNG is filled with white during conversion, which is usually what you want for printing and email but not if you need a cutout.
